Among the fastest-growing and highest density urban areas in the Emirate of Sharjah is the Muwailih Area. His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, approved a AED 500 million infrastructural investment for the establishment of an integrated sanitation network in the area including a new sewage system. The new sewage system for the area includes a sewage network of 58 kilometers with 1155 inspection rooms to cover the entire Muwailih area. The network will serve 2,129 existing buildings as a first stage with provision to serve another 1218 buildings in the future. The system also includes a pumping station that receives untreated water from the sewage network with a capacity of 2,300 liters per second, which is pumped to the treatment plant via a pumping line of 10 km length.
Decorative and durable gates were manufactured and installed by the Architectural Team of Alico Industries. These consisted of highly decorative cast aluminium see-through swing and wicket gates with gold anodized knuckles. These security gates are important features of the pumping station perimeter providing security and access control for authorized staff members and/or visitors.
