ZULUF INCREMENT PROGRAM (OIL FACILITIES FOURTH AND FIFTH PACKAGES) - GALVANIC ALUMINIUM JACKET SACRIFICIAL ANODES

Situated in the Arabian Gulf, the Zuluf oil-field is a super-giant oil reservoir located approximately 40m offshore the north-east coast of Saudi Arabia. This vast oil field is currently undergoing a significant expansion to bolster its production capacity, aiming to increase its output from 800,000 barrels per day (bpd) of Arabian medium crude oil to an impressive 1.4 million barrels per day (Mbpd) of heavy crude oil.

Over the course of its existence, the oil-field has seen the completion of several expansion packages, and at present, the ongoing fourth and fifth Zuluf packages, CRPO 82 & CRPO 83, are contributing to its growth. CRPO 82 involves the installation of at least 12 oil-handling wellhead topsides, two oil tie-in platforms, and one electrical distribution platform. Similarly, CRPO 83 includes 12 additional oil-handling wellhead topsides, two oil tie-in platforms, infield pipelines, and cables.

Alico Industries’ Cathodic Protection Division played a vital role in this oil-field expansion project by supplying hundreds of high quality galvanic aluminium jacket sacrificial anodes. These are essential for providing cathodic protection of the submerged part of offshore platforms and play a crucial role in protection of the platforms against corrosion, ensuring the long-term integrity and efficiency of the expansion infrastructure.
